Longmeadow Little League Hosting Tryouts for New 12U Travel Ball Team This Spring

Longmeadow Little League Hosting Tryouts for New 12U Travel Ball Team This Spring

Building on another summer of tremendous success in the annual World Series tournament, Longmeadow Little League is excited to offer a new option for players in the 10-12 age range to compete at the regional level this coming spring: a new partnership with the Mass/Conn United Patriots for travel ball. Evaluations for the new team will take place on November 19th and 20th from 12:00pm - 2:00pm at the M/CU Training Center in Agawam.

Players selected for the new 12U team will participate in the spring Little League season as well as in 4-5 regional weekend tournaments over the course of spring into summer. All tournaments will be within 1-2 hours of travel from Longmeadow.  Tournament dates will be selected to allow players to participate in the Little League season at a high level.

Coaches for the new travel team will be from Mass/Conn United and have years of high-level baseball coaching and playing experience at the high school, club, college and pro levels. Head Coach Greg LaSage brings 9 years of college coaching experience and more recently built and scaled a youth baseball club program in his hometown of Pueblo, CO.  Greg’s coaching philosophy is an excellent blend of skill development and advanced player position understanding.  Greg will be joined by assistant coach Colin Blake who has years of varsity and club baseball coaching along with decades of high level playing experience. Position specific training will be supported by additional pro and collegiate level pitcher, fielder and catcher coaches.  Practices will take place at Turner Field in Longmeadow and the M/CU Training Center in Agawam, a state-of-the-art baseball training facility with indoor cages and turf field for practicing the entire package of baseball skills.

Longmeadow Little League recognizes the interest in higher-level coaching and competition for more serious players, and is committed to offering options at an affordable price point for families. While details are still being finalized, fees for the program are anticipated to be $1,250.  The package includes coaching, over 30 training sessions, Hall of Fame membership to M/CU, uniforms and tourney participation—a significant value compared with other local travel programs.  Access to discounted rates for 1 on 1 training sessions will also be made available to team members.

By also playing in the traditional Little League season, players on the new M/CU Patriots 12U team will retain their eligibility to play in the summer Little League All-Star tournament. 12U teams compete to travel to Williamsport, Pa., for the nationally televised Little League World Series. Longmeadow’s 11U team reached the state semifinals in the 2022 tourney.
